Understanding Infiniti Dashboard Warning Lights
Infiniti vehicles are equipped with an advanced diagnostic system that monitors various components and systems. When an issue is detected, a corresponding warning light will illuminate on your dashboard.
These warning lights are color-coded to indicate the severity of the issue:

Critical Warning Lights

Automatic Transmission Park Warning Light
This light indicates that the Automatic Transmission (AT) parking function is not engaged. If the transfer control is not secured in any driving position while the AT shift lever is in the “P” (Park) position, the transmission will disengage and the wheels will not lock. If the AT park warning light illuminates with the shift lever in the P (Park) position, shift the Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) shift switch to the AUTO, 4H, or 4L position again with the shift lever in the N (Neutral) position.

Brake Warning Light
This light functions for both the parking brake and the foot brake systems. Parking brake indicator: When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the light comes on when the parking brake is applied. Low brake fluid warning: When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the light warns of a low brake fluid level. If the light comes on with the parking brake not applied, stop the vehicle and perform the following: 1. Check the brake fluid level. If brake fluid is low, add fluid and have the system checked. It is recommended you have this service performed by an INFINITI retailer. 2. If the brake fluid level is correct, have the warning system checked. It is recommended you have this service performed by an INFINITI retailer. Brake system malfunction warning: If the brake warning light (red) and the following warning light illuminate at the same time when the parking brake is released and the brake fluid level is sufficient, there may be a malfunction in the brake system.

Brake Warning Light
This light functions for both the parking brake and the foot brake systems. Charge Warning Light
If this light comes on while the engine is running, it may indicate the charging system is not functioning properly. Turn the engine off and check the generator belt. If the belt is loose, broken, or missing, or if the light remains on, have the system checked. It is recommended that you visit a dealer for this service.

Distance Warning Light
This light illuminates if the distance to the vehicle in front is too small for the speed selected. If a warning tone also sounds, you are approaching a vehicle or stationary obstacle in your line of travel at too high a speed.

Electric Shift Control System Warning Light
When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the electric shift control system warning light illuminates and then turns off. This indicates the electric shift control system is operational. The electric shift control system warning light illuminates when a malfunction occurs in the electric shift control system. When the master warning light illuminates, the chime sounds and the following message is displayed in the vehicle information display: “When parked apply parking brake”. When the ignition switch is placed in the OFF position, the chime sounds continuously. Ensure the parking brake is applied.

Electronic Parking Brake Indicator Light
This light illuminates when the electronic parking brake system is operating. When the ignition switch is placed in the ON position, the electronic parking brake warning light illuminates. When the engine is started and the parking brake is released, the warning light turns off. If the parking brake is not released, the electronic parking brake warning light remains illuminated. Ensure the electronic parking brake warning light has turned off before driving. If the electronic parking brake warning light illuminates or flashes while the electronic parking brake system warning light illuminates, it may indicate that the electronic parking brake system is not functioning properly. Have the system checked. It is recommended that you visit a dealer for this service.

Electronic Parking Brake Indicator Light
This light illuminates when the electronic parking brake system is operating. When the ignition switch is placed in the ON position, the electronic parking brake warning light illuminates. When the engine is started and the parking brake is released, the warning light turns off. If the parking brake is not released, the electronic parking brake warning light remains illuminated. Ensure the electronic parking brake warning light has turned off before driving. If the electronic parking brake warning light illuminates or flashes while the electronic parking brake system warning light illuminates, it may indicate that the electronic parking brake system is not functioning properly. Have the system checked. It is recommended that you visit a dealer for this service.

Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light
This light warns of low engine oil pressure. If the light flickers or comes on during normal driving, pull off the road in a safe area, stop the engine immediately and call a dealer or other authorized repair shop. The engine oil pressure warning light is not designed to indicate a low oil level. Use the dipstick to check the oil level.

High Temperature Warning Light
When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the high temperature warning light illuminates and then turns off. This indicates that the high temperature sensor in the engine coolant system is operational.

Master Warning Light
When the ignition is in the ON position, the master warning light illuminates if any of the following is displayed on the vehicle information display. ● Parking brake release warning ● Door open warning (while moving) ● Steering Alert hands-on detection warning The warning(s) remain on the vehicle information display until action is taken, or the ignition is placed in the OFF position.

Power Steering Warning Light
Models with Direct Adaptive Steering: When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the power steering warning light illuminates. After starting the engine, the power steering warning light stays on for a few seconds and turns off. This indicates that Direct Adaptive Steering is operational. Drive the vehicle after the power steering warning light turns off. If the power steering warning light illuminates while driving, pull off the road to a safe location and stop the vehicle. If the power steering warning light turns off, you can drive again. If the power steering warning light continues to illuminate, it is recommended you have Direct Adaptive Steering checked by an INFINITI retailer. Models with Electric Power Steering: When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the power steering warning light illuminates. After starting the engine, the power steering warning light turns off. This indicates the electric power steering is operational. If the power steering warning light illuminates while the engine is running, it may indicate the electric power steering is not functioning properly and may need servicing. It is recommended you have the electric power steering checked by an INFINITI retailer. When the power steering warning light illuminates with the engine running, the power assist to the steering will cease operation but you will still have control of the vehicle. At this time, greater steering efforts are required to operate the steering wheel, especially in sharp turns and at low speeds.

Seat Belt Warning Light
The seat belt warning light will illuminate when the ignition switch is pushed to the ON position if the driver’s seat belt is not fastened, or if the front passenger seat belt is not fastened when occupied. The seat belt warning light will also illuminate if a rear passenger seat belt is changed from fastened to unfastened. If the driver’s seat belt is not fastened when the ignition switch is pushed to the ON position, the chime will sound shortly. If the vehicle is driven above 9 mph (15km/h) in the conditions that illuminate the seat belt warning light, the lamp will begin to blink and the chime will sound for over one minute, or until the seat belt is fastened again.

Security Indicator Light
This light blinks when the ignition switch is placed in the OFF, LOCK or AUTO ACC position. The blinking security indicator light indicates that the security systems equipped on the vehicle are operational.

Steering Assist Hands OFF Warning Light
When the Steering Assist is activated, it monitors the driver’s steering wheel operation. If the steering wheel is not operated or the driver takes his/her hands off the steering wheel for a period of time, the warning light illuminates. If the driver does not operate the steering wheel after the warning light has been illuminated, an audible alert sounds and the warning flashes in the vehicle information display, followed by a quick brake application to request the driver to take control of the vehicle again. If the driver remains unresponsive, the vehicle will automatically turn on the hazard lights and slow to a complete stop.

Air Bag Warning Light
When the ignition switch is placed in the ON or START position, the supplemental air bag warning light illuminates for about 7 seconds and then turns off. This means the system is operational. If any of the following conditions occur, the front airbag, side airbag, curtain airbag, and pretensioner systems need servicing and your vehicle must be taken to a dealer: ● The supplemental air bag warning light remains on after approximately 7 seconds. ● The supplemental air bag warning light flashes intermittently. ● The supplemental air bag warning light does not come on at all. Unless checked and repaired, the supplemental restraint system (air bag system) and/or the pretensioners may not function properly
Service Warning Lights

4 Wheel Active Steer Warning Light
If the light comes on while the engine is running, it may indicate that there is a malfunction with the 4 Wheel Active Steer (4WAS) portion of the steering system. Push the ignition switch to the OFF position and then to the ON position. If the light does not turn off after cycling the engine, have the system checked by an INFINITI retailer. If a malfunction occurs in the system, the 4 Wheel Active Steer (4WAS) function will cease but driving can be continued. However, the steering wheel is slightly turned even when driving on a straight road. Drive carefully to the nearest INFINITI retailer.

Adaptive Front Lighting System Light
When the ignition switch is pushed to the ON position, the Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS) indicator light will illuminate. The light will turn off in about 1 second if the AFS is operational. If the AFS indicator light blinks, it may indicate the AFS is not functioning properly. Have the system checked by an INFINITI retailer.

All-Wheel Drive Warning Light
When the ignition switch is in the “ON” position, the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) indicator light illuminates and then turns off. When selecting AWD mode while the engine is running, the AWD indicator light illuminates.

Anti-Lock Braking System Warning Light
When the ignition switch is placed in the ON position, the ABS warning light illuminates and then turns off. This indicates the ABS is operational. If the ABS warning light illuminates while the engine is running or while driving, it may indicate the ABS is not functioning properly. Have the system checked. It is recommended that you visit a dealer for this service. If an ABS malfunction occurs, the anti-lock function is turned off. The brake system then operates normally but without antilock assistance.

Anti-Lock Braking System Warning Light
When the ignition switch is placed in the ON position, the ABS warning light illuminates and then turns off. This indicates the ABS is operational. If the ABS warning light illuminates while the engine is running or while driving, it may indicate the ABS is not functioning properly. Have the system checked. It is recommended that you visit a dealer for this service. If an ABS malfunction occurs, the anti-lock function is turned off. The brake system then operates normally but without antilock assistance.

Approaching Vehicle Sound For Pedestrians OFF
This light comes on if there is a malfunction in the Approaching Vehicle Sound for Pedestrians (VSP) system.

Automatic Transmission Check Light
When the ignition switch is placed in the ON position, the light comes on for 2 seconds. If the light comes on at any other time, it may indicate the transmission is not functioning properly. It is recommended you visit a dealer to check and repair the transmission.

Automatic Transmission Oil Temperature
This light illuminates when the Automatic Transmission (AT) oil temperature is too high. If the light illuminates while driving, reduce the vehicle speed as soon as safely possible until the light turns off.

Blind Spot Warning Light
If the light comes on and remains on, it may indicate that the BSW system is not functioning properly. Although the vehicle is still driveable, have the system checked by an INFINITI retailer

Check Suspension Indicator Light
When the ignition switch is placed in the “ON” position, the light comes on for 2 seconds.

Direct Response Hybrid System Light
When the ignition switch is in the “ON” position, the Direct Response Hybrid System warning light illuminates. After starting the hybrid system, the hybrid system warning light turns off. If the hybrid system warning light illuminates while driving, it may indicate that there is a malfunction in the electric motor and/or other hybrid system components. Stop your vehicle immediately and contact your INFINITI retailer. If the hybrid system warning light blinks while driving, it may indicate that the Li-ion battery charge is low and you cannot continue to drive. Do not allow the vehicle to coast when the Li-ion battery is low or when the hybrid system warning light blinks while driving. The engine will not automatically start to charge the Li-ion battery while the vehicle is coasting.

Distance Control Assist Warning Light
This light comes on if there is a malfunction in the Distance Control Assist (DCA) system. If the warning light illuminates, park the vehicle in a safe place. Turn the engine off, restart the engine, resume driving, and turn on the DCA system again. If it is not possible to turn on the system or the warning light stays on, it may indicate that the system is malfunctioning. Although the vehicle is still driveable under normal conditions, have the vehicle checked at an INFINITI retailer.

Electronic Parking Brake Warning Light
This light will illuminate after the hybrid system is started and then turns off after a few seconds.

Forward Emergency Braking Light
This light comes on when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position. It turns off after the engine is started. This light illuminates when the FEB system is set to OFF on the lower display. If the light illuminates when the FEB system is ON, it may indicate that the system is unavailable.

Four Wheel Drive Warning Light
The warning light comes on when the ignition switch is pushed to ON. It turns off soon after the engine is started. If the 4WD system malfunctions, or the diameter of the front and the rear wheels are different, the warning light will either remain illuminated or blink.

Front Passenger Air Bag Status Light
The front passenger air bag status light will be lit and the passenger front air bag will be off depending on how the front passenger seat is being used.

Intelligent Brake Assist OFF Light
The light illuminates when the Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) off switch is pushed to OFF. This indicates that the Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) system is not operating. When the IBA off indicator light illuminates while the system is turned on (without the warning chime sound), this light indicates that the system control is temporarily unavailable. When the IBA off indicator light illuminates with the warning chime sound while the IBA system is turned on, this light indicates that the system may not be functioning properly. Park the vehicle in a safe place. Check to see if the laser sensor is clean. Turn the engine off, then restart the engine. If the IBA off indicator light illuminates after following the procedures above, it may indicate that the system is malfunctioning. Although the vehicle is still driveable under normal conditions, have the vehicle checked at an INFINITI retailer.

Intelligent Cruise Control Warning Light
This light comes on if there is a malfunction in the Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) system. If the warning light comes on, park the vehicle in a safe place. Turn the engine off, restart the engine, resume driving, and set the ICC system again. If it is not possible to set the system or the indicator stays on, it may indicate that the system is malfunctioning. Although the vehicle is still driveable under normal conditions, have the vehicle checked at an INFINITI retailer.

Intelligent Key System Warning Light
After the ignition switch is pushed to the ON position, this light comes on for about 2 seconds and then turns off. This light warns of a malfunction with the Intelligent Key system. ● If the light comes on while the engine is stopped, it may be impossible to start the engine. ● If the light comes on while the engine is running, you can drive the vehicle. However, in these cases, contact an INFINITI retailer for repair as soon as possible.

Lane Departure Warning Light
When the ignition switch is pushed to the ON position, the light will come on in orange, turn green, and then turn off. This indicates that the Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) systems are operational. While the LDW and/or LDP system is on, the light will blink in orange and a warning chime will sound if the vehicle is traveling close to either the left or the right of a traveling lane with detectable lane markers. If the light comes on in orange and remains on, it may indicate that the LDW and LDP systems are not functioning properly. Have the systems checked by an INFINITI retailer.

Low Fuel Warning Light
This light illuminates when the fuel in the tank is getting low. Refuel as soon as it is convenient, preferably before the fuel gauge reaches the 0 (empty) position. There will be a small reserve of fuel remaining in the tank when the fuel gauge reaches the 0 position.

Low Tire Pressure Warning Light
Low tire pressure warning If the vehicle is being driven with low tire pressure, the warning light will illuminate. A “Tire Pressure Low – Add Air” warning also appears in the vehicle information display. When the low tire pressure warning light illuminates, you should stop and adjust the tire pressure of all four tires to the recommended COLD tire pressure shown on the Tire and Loading Information label located in the driver’s door opening. The low tire pressure warning light does not automatically turn off when the tire pressure is adjusted. After the tire is inflated to the recommended pressure, the vehicle must be driven at speeds above 16 mph (25 km/h) to activate the TPMS and turn off the low tire pressure warning light. Use a tire pressure gauge to check the tire pressure. The “Tire Pressure Low – Add Air” warning appears each time the ignition switch is placed in the ON position as long as the low tire pressure warning light remains illuminated. TPMS malfunction If the TPMS is not functioning properly, the low tire pressure warning light will flash for approximately 1 minute when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position. The light will remain on after 1 minute. Have the system checked. It is recommended that you visit a dealer for this service. The “Tire Pressure Low — Add Air” warning does not appear if the low tire pressure warning light illuminates to indicate a TPMS malfunction.

Low Washer Fluid Warning Light
This light comes on when the washer tank fluid is at a low level. Add washer fluid as necessary.

Malfunction Indicator Light
MIL on steady — An emission control system malfunction has been detected. Check the fuel-filler cap if the Loose Fuel Cap warning appears in the vehicle information display. If the fuel-filler cap is loose or missing, tighten or install the cap and continue to drive the vehicle. The light should turn off after a few driving trips. If the light does not turn off after a few driving trips, have the vehicle inspected. MIL blinking — An engine misfire has been detected which may damage the emission control system. To reduce or avoid emission control system damage: ● Do not drive at speeds above 45 mph (72 km/h). ● Avoid hard acceleration or deceleration. ● Avoid steep uphill grades. ● If possible, reduce the amount of cargo being hauled or towed. The MIL may stop blinking and come on steady. Have the vehicle inspected

Malfunction Indicator Light

Power Steering Warning Light
When the ignition switch is placed in the ON position, the power steering warning light illuminates. After starting the engine, the power steering warning light turns off. This indicates the power steering is operational. If the power steering warning light illuminates while the engine is running, it may indicate the power steering is not functioning properly and may need servicing. Have the power steering checked. It is recommended that you visit a dealer for this service. When the power steering warning light illuminates with the engine running, there will be no power assist for the steering, but you will still have control of the vehicle. At this time, greater steering effort is required to operate the steering wheel, especially in sharp turns and at low speeds.

Preview Function Warning Light
The light comes on if there is a malfunction in the Preview Braking system. ● If the warning light comes on, park the vehicle in a safe place. Turn the engine off, restart the engine, resume driving, and set the ICC system again. ● If it is not possible to set the system or the indicator stays on, it may indicate that the system is malfunctioning. Although the vehicle is still driveable under normal conditions, have the vehicle checked at an INFINITI retailer.

Rear Active Steer Warning Light
If the light comes on while the engine is running, it may indicate that there is a malfunction with the Rear Active Steer portion of the steering system. Have the system checked by an INFINITI retailer. If a malfunction occurs in the system, the Rear Active Steer function will cease but driving can be continued. If the light comes on while you are driving, contact an INFINITI retailer for repair.

Rear Automatic Braking Warning Light
This light comes on when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position. It turns off after the engine is started. This light illuminates when the RAB system is turned off in the vehicle information display. If the light illuminates when the RAB system is on, it may indicate that the system is unavailable

Snow Mode Indicator Light
When selecting SNOW mode while the engine is running, this light will illuminate.

Vehicle Dynamic Control OFF Light
This indicator light comes on when the VDC is turned off in the vehicle information display. This indicates the VDC has been turned off. Turn the VDC on using the vehicle information display, or by restarting the engine. The VDC light also comes on when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position. The light will turn off after a period of time if the system is operational. If the light stays on or comes on along with the indicator light while you are driving, have the VDC system checked. It is recommended that you visit a dealer for this service.

Vehicle Dynamic Control Warning Light
This indicator light will blink when the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system is operating, thus alerting the driver to the fact that the road surface is slippery and the vehicle is nearing its traction limits. You may feel or hear the system working; this is normal. The light will blink for a few seconds after the VDC system stops limiting wheel spin. The indicator light also comes on when you place the ignition switch in the ON position. The light will turn off after approximately 2 seconds if the system is operational. If the light does not come on have the system checked. It is recommended that you visit a dealer for this service.
Information Indicators (Green)

Automatic Brake Hold Indicator Light
This light illuminates to show the status of the automatic brake hold system. When the automatic brake hold system is operating, the indicator will illuminate green.

Blind Spot Intervention On Indicator
The light comes on in green when the Blind Spot Intervention® (BSI) system is turned on. The light turns off when the system is turned off.

Eco Drive Indicator Light
When the ignition switch is pushed to the ON position, the light will come on in orange, turn green, and then turn off. When the drive mode select switch is turned to the ECO mode, the ECO drive indicator light will illuminate or change its color depending on the accelerator pedal operation to help assist the driver to drive economically.

EV Indicator Light
This illuminates to indicate the vehicle is being driven powered only by the motor.

Front Fog Light Indicator Light
The front fog light indicator light illuminates when the front fog lights are on.

High Beam Assist Indicator Light
This indicator light illuminates when the headlights come on while the headlight switch is in the AUTO position with the high beams selected. This indicates that the high beam assist is operational.

Lane Departure Prevention On Light
The light comes on in green when the Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) system is turned on. The light turns off when the system is turned off.

Low Beam Indicator Light
This light comes on when the switch is turned to the “ON” position. The headlights will come on; and the front side, tail, number plate, and instrument lights remain on.

Ready To Drive Indicator Light
The READY to drive indicator light illuminates when the hybrid system is powered and the vehicle may be driven.

Exterior Light Indicator
The side light and headlight indicator light illuminates when the side light or headlight position is selected.

Tow Mode Indicator Light
This light will illuminate when the TOW MODE is selected while the engine is running.

Turn Signal Indicator
The appropriate light flashes when the turn signal switch is activated. Both lights flash when the hazard switch is turned on.
Information Indicators (Blue)

High Beam Indicator Light
This light comes on when the headlight high beam is on and goes out when the low beam is selected.
Information Indicators (White)

Automatic Brake Hold Indicator Light
This light illuminates to show the status of the automatic brake hold system. When the automatic brake hold system is on standby, the indicator will illuminate white.

Automatic Transmission Position Light
This light illuminates to show the status of the automatic brake hold system. When the automatic brake hold system is on standby, the indicator will illuminate white.

Automatic Transmission Position Light
When the ignition switch is pushed to the “ON” position, the indicator shows the automatic selector position. In the manual shift mode, when the transmission does not shift to the selected gear due to a transmission protection mode, the AT position indicator light will blink and a chime will sound.
